Family Playscheme update

The results of family activities today were........stencils! for the garden mural ready for next week.

It was just a little rainy at the beginning of the session, so we played and made inside instead. New families and older ones all having fun.

Drawing, colouring, cutting out, running, ball games and shouting at the top of our voices to fill the hall space. A fun session today :-)

Getting Social Media savy!

Thanks to Urbain and his hard work and dedication to sorting out SOLA's social media, we now have buffer set up via FB and posting is sooooo much easier.

One click and everthing is shared across our social media networks. Thanks Urbain!!!

Summer Family Playscheme has started!

We had lots of fun today at our first session of our Summer Family Playscheme.

Thanks to help from Mike from Toxteht Town HAll Garden Project, we explored 2 different types of bees (honey bee and bumble bee), ant nests,  buddlea trees and we found lots of things that are growing that we can eat from the garden.

Then we used our imagination and got creative experiment with ideas for the mural we are making in the garden from next week.

The sessions based at Toxteth Town Hall Community Garden run throughout the school holidays and are open to families from refugee, BME and local communities.

Contact us if you want to join in :-)

Create training today

Adele, Lead Art Therapist at SOLA ARTS delivered a really fantastic training session today for and with British Red Cross staff and volunteers.

The group learnt about Art Therapy, the Create project and toegther everyone explored ways to enable a community based drop-in for refugees to deliver Art Therapy based support.

The training was informative and based on the approach of co-production to develop a specific approach that best suits the British Red Cross Drop-In and their service users within the Create therapy remit.

It was a pleasure to meet everyone, think and share ideas together to develop a support and programme to support asylum seeker and refugee mental wellbeing.

A great start to what we envisage will be a good journey for mental wellbeing of people who can be of the most vulnerable in our community.
